MVHT is a fundraiser for the Helping Hands Fund. The first two events raised more than $10,000 for the ecumenical project.
Since 2004, when Helping Hands Fund was established, the fund supported by local churches, organizations and individuals, has responded to more than 45,000 requests for assistance. Assistance is given in the form of vouchers for food, gas, temporary lodging, clothing, utilities and transportation. The project also helps with short term needs such as personal care bags, hygiene products, household supplies and obtaining vital records. Newer projects include the Community Cradle Project, Backpack Project and the Holiday Giving Project. Referrals are made to other resource service partners to help clients address their long-term needs and goals.
